Theatrical artists in Israel and outside it boycott Ariel Culture Hall

September 7, 2010

One of the greatest services that boycotting does to a community is opening up the conversation inside it – this is an effect we see again and again as group after group speaks up against the occupation and the apartheid involved in it.

The latest group to join the boycott (albeit in a limited way, banning only the illegal Jewish settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories on the West Bank of the Jordan River) is a contingent of stars and performers, who join to support the Israeli theater artists who refuse to perform in the newly-constructed Ariel Culture Hall.

Who’s boycotting and way? Read all about it!

Added on 9 September: Theodor Bikel wrote a wonderful piece about the implications of performing in the Occupied Territories.
