JeffCoWA BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) is a grassroots network of community members in Jefferson County, WA, calling for a non-violent, global movement of boycott, divestment, and sanctions of Israel, until it meets the requirements of human rights and international law.
We have filed a request with the Port Townsend Food Co-Op, that it make a policy decision to boycott all Israeli products due to the social, political, and environmental practices of the Israeli government.
The boycott is a step toward justice for the Palestinians and Israelis, following a path of nonviolent resistance that led to an end of Jim Crow laws, ended violations of farm workers’ rights, and ended apartheid in South Africa. As member-owners of the Food Co-op, we ask that the Food Co-op boycott products imported from Israel and the occupied territories until Israel stops violating international law and the human rights of the Palestinian people.
We are one of many groups calling for this boycott. Similar calls have come out from Palestine and Israel, from Desmond Tutu, Naomi Klein, Elvis Costello, Richard Falk and many, many others. The failure of elected officials to hold Israel accountable for its atrocious actions forces global civil society to act, for a non-violent solution and justice for Palestinians and Israelis alike.
We’ll be glad to hear from you by email.
